Developing Together Social Work Teaching Partnership

Croydon Adults L&D Service Manager Vacancy

Over the next 18 months, Croydon Adult Social Care will be rolling out a completely new approach to supporting those over 18yrs in our communities who need extra support to live their ‘best lives.’ Developed by the National Development Team for Social Inclusion (NDTi) and pioneered by Leeds Adult Social Services, ‘Community Led Support (CLS)’ aims to work with and in communities to develop and deliver the help that people need where they want it, and how they need it. By devolving decision making and support to a community based level, and changing the way in which people interact with those who are seeking help, we aim to reduce bureaucracy to a safe enough minimum, and focus instead on helping people identify their own strengths and supports.

The role of the Adult social care Learning & development service manager (ASC) is to work alongside managers and leaders in adult social work, and working strategically to develop learning and development approaches that support the implementation of CLS. You will be part of the Corporate Learning and Development Team and work alongside the Adult social division. You will line manage and support a small team of Learning & Development and Business Support Professionals, some of whom will be professionally qualified. You will manage a budget, and be able to account for monies coming into the department as well using the personal and professional resources available to you to effectively deliver appropriate outcomes.

We work in challenging times, but challenges also create opportunities to work differently to deliver the support people need. If you have the skills and experience needed to help make the CLS approach a reality for Croydon and its residents, this could be the job for you.
