Being a SHiFT GuideBe the social worker you trained to be.As a SHiFT Guide, you’ll have the conditions to practise social work in the way it was meant to be done; relationally, thoughtfully and with the time and support to make a real difference.Work with fewer children, for longer. Guides hold a maximum caseload of six children, enabling intensive work and deeper relationships.You won’t do this work alone. Reflective supervision, team problem-solving spaces and strong peer support are central to SHiFT practice.Respond quickly to children’s needs. Guides have access to a dedicated child resource budget to create meaningful opportunities and experiences.Put systemic practice into action. Work across systems to advocate for children and challenge the structures that shape their lives.Be part of a wider movement. SHiFT is working nationally to transform youth justice and social care. Our goal is to help them build safer futures and make positive contributions to their communities.We work intensively with a small group of children over around 18 months, building strong relationships and working alongside families, schools, social care and youth justice partners.Each SHiFT team, or Practice, consists of one Lead Guid, four Guides and a Practice Coordinator, working collaboratively and sharing responsibility for the work.Read more about our work → https://www.shiftuk.org/about-shift
