Following on from a recent reorganisation across Adults Social Care in Merton, we have the exciting opportunity to recruit a full-time Social Work Assistant that will be working within the Locality Team 1. 

This is an exciting time to join one of our growing and dynamic teams as we build and consolidate good practice across the borough.  

We are looking for people who are ambitious and excited to support people in our local area, and who can support the journey to excellence, building on the changes and improvements Merton has been making, ensuring that we work in a more customer focussed, flexible way, focusing interventions towards prevention. 

You will be involved in assessing the needs of residents across Merton and identifying services and support that may assist them. Our teams consist of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and a number of health professionals, including Health Liaison workers, and Occupational Therapists. You will be required to support the role of the Social Workers within the team and to have an allocated caseload yourself. You will be required to work closely with our colleagues across Merton such as Housing and Health and other key agencies within the voluntary sector. 

You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to our customers, their families, and carers.  

Experience in Adult’s Services would be desirable, and you will need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of Care Act assessment process, and other relevant Adult Social Care Legislation.

The London Borough of Merton is an outer London borough at the start of the Northern Line and has good transport links. The borough includes the areas of Wimbledon, Mitcham, and Morden.
