Developing Together Social Work Teaching Partnership

Teaching Partnership Celebration Event & Awards Ceremony Event – Dec 2021

Thank you to everyone who attended the Teaching Partnership’s annual Celebration Event & Awards Ceremony on 9th December. We hope you found it a positive end to the year and enjoyed having a reflective space to feel proud of the social work profession and all the great work you do every day for children, families and vulnerable adults.

Following a welcome from Ian Dodds, Director of Children’s Services Kingston & Richmond, we heard from a number of individuals across the Partnership about their social work story. Sharon Evans, Partnership Practice Consultant, reflected on her career change from law to social work, Rajiva Nurse spoke about her experience of undertaking the ASYE in Sutton during the pandemic and we heard from a person with lived experience (parent) who has worked with social workers for many years and had a very mixed experience. It was extremely inspiring to hear about how this parent’s perception of social work had completely changed since working with Emma Crawford from Achieving for Children.

This was followed by a video montage and a sing-a-long to Heather Small’s ‘Proud’ before we closed with an Awards Ceremony and final reflections from Karen Walls, PSW at Sutton Children. A huge well done to all the winners as well as to everyone who was nominated. All those shortlisted, special mentions and winners should now have received a certificate and voucher. Also a big thank you to those who took the time to make nominations and our shortlisting panels for making the final decisions.

Thank you to everyone for all your hard work this year – wishing you a lovely Christmas and New Year! 🙂
