Developing Together Social Work Teaching Partnership

Virtual Social Work Practice Conference – Tuesday 9 November 2021

Covid 19 has significantly impacted on the working practices in social work and social care. Whilst social workers are now returning to offices and working within the community, it is recognised that social work practice will continue to utilise online working and we will see a more blended approach to engaging and working with people with lived experience in our communities.

This day’s training is for both Adults and Children’s Social Workers to develop their knowledge and skills in engaging both adults and children in social work conversations, assessment and direct work on line. The day will be divided into four workshops:

Session 1 (9:30-11am): Virtual Working – lessons learnt and future practice – an introductory session exploring the context of online working, professional boundaries, confidentiality and ethical issues
Session 2 (11:15am-12:30pm): Working Virtually in Adult Social Care – People with Lived Experience providing their views, digital transformation, guidance and best practice in adult social care
Session 3 (1:30-2:45pm): Case studies on virtual assessments and remote working – challenges and opportunities of hybrid working in adult social care
Session 4 (3:00-4:15pm): Carrying out direct work with children virtually – challenges and opportunities of hybrid working in children’s social care
